Interested in teaching members of your community how to better protect themselves, their families, and their friends?

The benefits and rewards of becoming a Refuse To Be A Victim® instructor come from the very people you will meet and train – and the NRA makes becoming an instructor simple and convenient.

Eligibility Requirements

In order to become a Refuse To Be A Victim® Instructor, you must:

  • Be 18 years of age or older
  • Have a clear criminal record and not be prohibited by any federal, state, or local law, ordinance or regulation from possessing, purchasing, or using firearms. 

Tuition

In-person Instructor Development Workshop (IDW) costs can vary. Contact [email protected] to find a course near you.

The online instructor course is $250. No additional fees required. Tuition includes the course fee, required student materials, and the NRA instructor certification fee for the first two years. There are no refunds once payment is received. If you are active-duty law enforcement, email [email protected] to fill out a grant form, which will allow you to take the course for free.

Note: NRA instructor certification fees must be renewed every two years. The current renewal rate is $30 for two years for NRA members and $50 for two years for non-members.

Included Course Materials

  • Instructor Development Workshop Kit: Refuse To Be A Victim® Instructor's manual, Instructor Thumb Drive, and student packet
  • Refuse to be a Victim Student Packet: Student handbook, student firearm supplement, seminar participation certificate, program brochure, and instructor brochure

Time Commitment

The Instructor Development Workshop requires approximately 10-12 hours to complete. However, you will have two weeks to complete the training.
